Revolver is martially marked with sub inspectors marks. Indicates military use.
1. "L" & "D" on the steel barrel
2. dual "L" sub-inspector marks on frame to the left of hammer
3. cylinder is martially marked with sub inspectors marks "L" & "D"
4. grips are solid with no breaks. Numerous heavy use surface marks.

Steel retains no traces of original blue finish All metal markings are clearly legible*:

-STARR PATENT JAN 15, 1856 found on right side of frame.
Barrel and cylinders have light pitting & light rust.

History
1863 Starr Single Action Calvary Revolver. A Civil War period pistol and one of the favorite large frame revolvers of the Civil War. This revolver was provided to mounted Union cavalry soldiers at a price of $5.00. This revolver was part of a 25,000 unit contract issued by the Union Army in October 1863 for delivery over 12 months. Serial numbers ran from #23,000 to ~#54,000.
