•"ALLENS PATENT 1845" stamped on hammer
•Marked "ALLEN THURBER & CO WORCHESTER" between two barrel flutes
•36 cal percussion, S/N 211 (manuf. in calibers between .28-.36)
•3.1" fluted, 6-shot barrel; double action
•The barrels have some minor pitting, surface roughness and freckling.
•Frame, nipple shield & back strap factory engraved
•Fully operational mechanically & revolves barrel as designed
     Do not fire unless certified by a licensed gunsmith.
•Walnut grips retain good varnish finish; top right grip has minor chip
 
Wear commensurate with normal use.
 
Outstanding example of an uniquely pre-Civil War firearm.  Many were carried as personal weapons on both sides of the Civil War.
